Mains filters

Powering the audio equipment... Caring for the music...

For more than three decades, JMF Audio had focused on the amplification and the transport of the audio signal, building a reputation for a natural rendering of music among music lovers, audio enthusiasts and studio professionals. With time, questionings regarding the influence of the mains on the perceived sound quality emerged. We therefore decided to study the subject, for our own sake, for our customers' satisfaction, for the music.  Measurements, analysis, evaluations on listening, correlations... The research and development process was long. Tackling power line issues along with ensuring musicality without any downside, the challenge was high...

We could eventually state that as much optimized an audio system can be, it will never reveal its full potential without a suitable mains power line processing. Following the development of the PC3 power cord with the significant sound quality improvement that comes along, JMF Audio has proposed a global solution: the PCD 302 power line filter and distributor, a world's first concept.

The exclusive bi-directional and independent filtering principle featured in the PCD 302 and PCD 102, suppresses power line disturbances coming from the outside as well as interactions between audio components. (Intellectual Property registration).

  • Bi-directional JMF Audio BDF 223™ filtering

  • Powered through attached JMF Audio PC3 cords

  • Dual mono concept for the PCD 302

  • Phase detection on each input

  • Wrapped and potted filter cells, hand-crafted at the JMF Audio manufacture

  • 10 filtered outputs of which 6 are totally independent for the PCD 302

  • Sequential output power-on to reduce in-rush currents on the mains with the PCD 302

  • A single front panel button to power-on and power-off the main power supply

  • Mounted on sub-chassis, acoustically floating, virtually immune to vibrations (triple chassis with the Orose® enclosure)

  • Total power handling: up to 7kW depending on the model

  • Operation from 100 to 240V AC seamlessly

With a simple gesture, from its front panel button, the PCD 302 and the PCD 102 can power-up and power-down an entire JMF Audio setup, without risk of power line shutdown, without transient noise in the speakers. The sequential output power-up of the PCD 302 ensures a spread of in-rush currents over time. For coherence, the PCD 302 is built around the same chassis as the JMF Audio power amplifiers and the PCD 102 is built around the same chassis as the JMF Audio pre-amplifiers. Both models take advantage of the Orose® enclosure.

For the music:

Powering your audio setup through the JMF Audio PCD Instrument for the music® results in a more enveloping and contrasted rendering with wider sound-stage, longer decay, fluidity, sweetness, fullness and a deeper bass response.

The JMF Audio Instruments for the music® are entirely hand crafted in our workshops and pass stringent tests. Every manufactured mains filter is verified by listening in our studios after an operating period of over 100 hours and placed in comparison with our references.

The triple chassis design, with the Orose® enclosure made of 10 to 16mm thick anodized and brushed aluminum parts, lays on JMF Audio’s proprietary decoupling feet. Whichever the chosen anodizing color Silver or Black, the engravings are filled with rose-gold and the controls, inserted in guided cylinders for smooth operation, are precisely machined in solid blocks of steel.

Each JMF Audio mains filter is delivered with an Owner’s Manual containing the warranty terms and registration information.
